How to Create a Basic Unreal Material with SHADE Format Bitmaps

The Unreal download option in the library is specifically made for the SHADE material suite. 

The bitmaps themselves can be used with other material setups however, the packing process for the MRAO makes the process efficient regardless of the material used

This does require some foreknowledge of how the MRAO bitmap is structured. 

Import the material after downloading it from the library. 

Once a material is created, drag the bitmaps onto the editor graph.

The bitmaps can now be plugged into the proper pins on the material node.

Some things to remember:

At times the roughness map may need to be inverted to be computed properly, hooking into a -1 node will do that.

  • Metallic
  • Roughness
  • Ambient Occlusion
